Our gorgeous Donizetti dining set is named after Domenico Gaetano Maria Donizetti, who was an Italian composer best known for his almost 70 operas. Many of his works are repertory staples, which include L’elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lammermoor, Maria Stuarda, La Fille du régiment and Don Pasquale. Along with Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini, he was a leading composer of the bel canto opera style during the first half of the nineteenth century and a probable influence on other composers such as Giuseppe Verdi. He is recognised today not only as an important figure in operatic history and a key influence on Verdi, but also as a great composer in his own right.
